How Abba Baba Reads Your Inventory
Our platform integrates with your e-commerce store to read your current inventory levels.
- Read-Only Access: Abba Baba operates with read-only access to your inventory data. This means our app never directly modifies your stock levels. All inventory management remains completely within your control, managed through your Shopify (or other platform) admin.
- Initial Sync: When you first connect your store, we perform an initial sync to fetch your current product and inventory data.
- Periodic Updates: After the initial sync, we periodically update inventory information to ensure our data remains fresh. This typically happens via webhook-driven updates for order changes and periodic CLI-based syncs for broader catalog changes.
Important: The ultimate source of truth for stock levels at the moment of purchase is always your store's own platform (e.g., Shopify). The customer completes the purchase on your site.
Preventing Out-of-Stock Sales
AI agents are designed to recommend products that are available. Maintaining accurate inventory data in your store is the best way to ensure agents only recommend in-stock items.

- Maintain Accurate Inventory: Regularly update your stock levels in your Shopify (or other platform) admin.
- Use Shopify's Inventory Tracking: Leverage Shopify's built-in inventory tracking features for precise stock management.
- Avoid Overselling (If Preferred): If you do not wish to sell products that are out of stock, ensure your Shopify store's settings prevent overselling.
- Monitor Your Dashboard: Keep an eye on your Abba Baba merchant dashboard for any product data sync issues that might affect inventory accuracy.
How AI Agents Handle Stock Information:
- Prioritize In-Stock Items: Our search algorithms automatically prioritize products that are reported as in-stock.
- Clear Stock Status: If a product is out-of-stock, our API will clearly indicate this, allowing agents to inform customers or suggest alternatives.
- Checkout Verification: Since the final purchase happens on your store, your platform's inventory checks at checkout provide the ultimate verification of product availability.
